The Waste Management Society of Nigeria (WAMASON) is non-governmental professional organization incorporated (CAC/IT/No. 18515) in 2005. Its vision is to protect public health, control pollution, conserve ecological capital and promote waste to wealth initiatives, and innovations such as waste to energy and minimize contribution of waste to greenhouse gases emission and climate change.
WAMASON is interested in the professional practice of Waste Management in Nigeria and this is being driven through;
- Development of appropriate human capital through training and certification
- Building consensus with Government and creating public awareness
- Development of practice standards and;
- Research and development of best practices.
WAMASON has membership all over the Federation cutting across both the public and private sector including the academia and has established over fourteen State Councils offices in the Country.
